Offensive Security Training

Offensive Security Training courses are unique in the Information Security Training arena, and as such having proper expectations set before taking the course is very important.

All Offensive Security courses are all written to teach the student, not just hand them information. This is an important differentiation, and one that can be jarring when first encountered if you are used to traditional information security training. Offensive Security courses start at the fundamental concepts of every topic, and then build upon that foundation to enable the student to truly understand what their goal is, how the technology interacts with the goal, and the best way to approach it in that specific situation.

This unique approach to building up the students to be independent problem solvers is reflected in the available courses. Offensive Security courses are available for all levels of information security professional, and all build upon each other in a manner which provides the student with a clear path for continued advancement:

PWB Sneak Peak

Pentesting with Backtrack: An introductory class which will take those new to information security and provide the fundamental knowledge the student will build upon for the rest of their career. While introductory, many students leave this course with more knowledge than high end courses are able to provide.

WiFu: A wireless focused course which provides indepth knowledge of wireless protocols as well as the most detailed information available for the industry leading Aircrack-ng suite of tools.

Cracking the Perimeter: An advanced course in penetration testing, CTP builds upon an experienced penetration tester’s knowledge to get beyond the standard methods of obtaining system access. CTP teaches the student to not accept minor results, but rather demonstrates how to show the true level of risk a found vulnerability represents by exercising it to the fullest extent possible, in ways the student never considered. Students should ensure they have the level of knowledge required before attempting this course.

Advanced Windows Exploitation: One of the most advanced exploitation courses available, this course is not one to be entered into lightly. With no “simple” topics, AWE starts hard and goes insane very quickly. Dealing with how to work around modern Windows memory protections, students with a solid foundation of exploitation techniques are taken to the cutting edge.

All of the Offensive Information Security Training courses require a fair amount of effort from the students, and appropriate time should be set aside to get the most out of the course. If you take the course live, do not expect a mini-vacation like many information security courses offer. You will spend your days in class and your evenings working through the material. Your effort will be rewarded with more personal growth and knowledge then you have ever received in a weeks time before.
